About ICE
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is one of the world’s most respected professional engineering associations. Formed in 1818 with the aim to “foster and promote the art and science of civil engineering”, its membership has since grown to over 95,000 industry professionals spanning more than 150 countries worldwide.
ICE strives to find solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems, ranging from population pressures and growing urbanisation, to climate change, water shortages, and natural and human disasters.
ICE plays a vital role in helping society achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Engineers find solutions to the big issues of their day, and few challenges are greater than those highlighted by these goals.
